That is around the 5th to the 15th century. These kinds of dresses are what we would consider to be old fashioned today but in some way the medieval era has remained apart of us even though it has since been outdated. There are so many ways that we can appreciate the medieval era today but for now we focus more on the dresses. As much as we would like to say that they are too old fashioned to wear, there are certain occasions that require us to go back and use such dresses. When such occasions arise, do not panic as we give you tips on what to consider when you go shopping for one.

Shopping for medieval dresses can be a tricky task to engage in especially if you have no idea on where to start from. But in order to have an easy way out, you first want to do adequate research on the medieval era and what it used to represent. The information you dig up will not only help you to increase your knowledge on historical happenings but also enlighten you when it comes to the actual shopping of the dresses. Through adequate research, you will get to know how to wear the dress you will buy let alone get an idea of how they look like.

After doing your research, you need to find that one store that sells medieval dresses. These are not your average store so it will not be that easy to allocate one. You want to shop around in various stores to see if they have even one kind of such dresses. Remember, this is not something you will wear on regular basis and therefore you do not expect the store owner to always stock on them. However, there are a few stores if you look well enough that will only be interested in selling medieval items. You could try out your luck in such stores.

Medieval dresses can also be bought from online sites. This is one of the easiest venues through which you can get the dresses and for a cheaper price as well. Medieval items can be expensive at times due to their ancient nature but should you be willing to employ the shopping tips you have learnt over the years, then you can surely get any kind of medieval item for a fair price. Shopping for medieval items should be considered as a fun filled activity that is why you should do it with your girlfriends. Having the second opinion from someone else other than the shop attendant will be of great help if you are out shopping for medieval dresses. You want to get as much help when choosing the dresses and that is why it is just as important to let someone else tell you how you look with the dress on rather than just trying it and looking at yourself in the mirror.

The Renaissance man was known for breaking away from convention and for experimenting new things. These changes were made by the native Europeans and remained for a long time.

The Renaissance movement lasted from the 14th to the 17th century and came into being when great empires like the Ottoman Empire, reached its down fall. The Renaissance dates from the time when people wanted to bring about revolutionary changes in every aspect of their lives of which, clothing and dressing was an integral part.

During the renaissance, clothing of people was unique and exclusive. They used to wear clothes that they felt made them feel comfortable and easy to move in. Women during the Renaissance period used to wear long dresses that were just above their knees. They also dressed in blouses with frills on them. The long and flowing gowns were also very famous during that time that covered their entire bodies. Since Renaissance was a time when religious doctrines were taken very seriously and played an important part in defining the dress code and modes of clothing for both, men and women. Moreover, since mostly people in Europe were Christians and showing ankles was considered vulgar, women were vigilant enough to go for clothing that covered their ankles and were less revealing. These dresses were made in the most exclusive ways in many different styles and designs since art was also experiencing transition and experimentation. Artistic sense was now used to beautify the Renaissance clothing, to add style to a woman’s dress.

These gowns had long puffy sleeves with large padding. Men on the other hand, were usually clad in similar shaped long shirts with either puffy long sleeves or just simple long sleeves. Their clothing also included pants made out a very fine material with coats that were either made of velvet or a really thick material. In addition to that, they also had handkerchiefs of silk to go with their outfits. People of the Renaissance era were also much concerned about the way they did their hair. Men always had evenly cut short bobbed hair while women would tie their hair up in an elegant fashion, very neatly with no hair stinging out. Apart from this, people had their clothing accessorized with things like swords, shields, helmets in case of a war and other clothing accessories which they used as a means of protection in case there was danger.

After Renaissance, obviously the clothing of people changed and they started dressing up differently. People even today are inspired by the clothing of the people of Renaissance. They are often referred to as dresses which are simple yet elegant and easy to move in. We see people dressed up in Renaissance culture in fancy dress shows and parties. Renaissance clothing defined their new culture that was moving away from convention and paving way for modernity.

This dress can be worn by anyone in the society as it is designed to bring out the positive features of a woman. It tends to hold the body on the right places as it flows down easily. This kind of dress should be so easy to accessorize but if you do not know how to do it, below are a few tips to consider and put into use. When choosing the kind of accessory to represent and go well with the medieval age, then you want to keep it as simple as possible. Remember that during this era, things had not yet develop to the level that we are now and that is why it is considered to be the middle age.

The kind of accessories you want to put on with your medieval dress can be anything like necklaces, earrings, shoes and bags. Since most of us do not have the exact kind of medieval jewelry that was worn during this time, we can easily improvise with what we already have. When it comes to picking out the earrings to match your dress, it would be best if you choose the loop types than the hanging or ones. A pair of studs can also do the trick but remember to keep the colors as plain as possible. Your choice of necklace should also be as plain as well. You want a necklace that says medieval from the first glance. For this reason, you can wear necklaces that have pendants with unique antic features. This is because most antics designs have been inspired by ancient history that include the medieval times.

Your choice of shoes will greatly influence how the medieval dress looks on you. Choose to wear sandals rather than high heeled shoes with this kind of a dress. Since the dress will be long enough to reach the ground, you might be forced to lift it up every once in a while. Ensure that the sandals do not have any kind of glittery stones on them. Choose the kind of sandals that are mostly made out of rubber strands as a way of fastening them. This way, you are in a better position to pull of the medieval look. Bracelets can be a waste of time and jewelry when accessorizing this dress.

This is because the medieval dress is designed to have full and flair arms. With this kind of arms, you can be guaranteed that nobody will notice the bracelets you are wearing so it would be better not to wear such jewelry. When you choose to wear such a dress in today’s world, then your choice of bag should be the clutch bag. Keeping it simple with the accessories is the only way to make this dress look nice. Remember that the dress alone will attract enough attention from people, therefore do not divert the attention by over accessorizing.

There was a time when those funky shoes were in fashion and everyone used to follow them. However, as time passed, things changed and now people know what to wear and what will suit them and dress accordingly.

Long boots have been among us since a long time, this unique kind of footwear was initially introduced by pirates, who used to wear long shoes to their ships. This was more like a fashion statement for them. However, as time passed materialism settled in and there was a constant urge to look different and better. Keeping this concept in mind along with many others, fashion designers started designing shoes like these in an enhanced and revised way. They modified the pirate boots and are constantly doing so by making them funky for teenagers, classy for fashion conscious women and in the original pirate style for those who like keeping it simple!

One cannot say that there is only one best thing about pirate boots, they look amazing and protect your feet from weather damage also. Moreover, you can wear them with everything, be it jeans or skirts, they look classy with everything. Secondly, you can wear these shoes all around the year. In winters there is a collection of woolen boots to make you warm, in summers there are branded boots that are not only limited to a standard long size but have straps on them with which you can wear them easily. There are different materials used for different kinds of boots. In summer, the fabrics used are very light like cotton or jersey. These can be worn with knickers, miniskirts and short dresses. These shoes are very comfortable to wear and durable. They can be worn on occasions like fancy dress parties, field trips and Halloween also. Some people also wear them to wedding parties. To hear, it sounds awkward to wearing them to weddings but they look classy and elaborate. Wedding boots are a special range designed by many designers which include high heels, broaches and shimmery cloths. These elegant bedazzled thigh-high-boots worn with a short outfit look amazing. Since a long time, laced leather boots have been in fashion, they are just below the thighs; you can find them in different colors and wear them with whatever outfit you like. There have been an increase in the buying and selling of animal skin printed boots, they look wonderful with every outfit and are easy to carry also.

From flat books to high heeled boots, all have been a part of the fashion and footwear industry for a long time. So if you have not bought a pair of these classy shoes, then it’s time to search for the best place in your vicinity that offers a good range. Once you are exposed to the feel of these pirate boots, you are always in search of new designs and colors- they are that cool!

Everyone’s going around shopping and planning for the renaissance fair. You have to appreciate everyone’s spirit at this time of the year. It’s no different than Christmas. They may spend an entire year building the impression of a perfectly educated and flawless gentleman, but then comes along the renaissance fair, and you get to see everyone’s dark side. Well, not exactly the dark side, but not the coolest side either. Something to keep an eye out for in every renaissance fair are the Renaissance shoes that men come up with. Some say that a man who can pull off Renaissance shoes is a keeper. Okay maybe nobody says that, but is it not just the greatest sight?

This is not a gift that everyone has the luxury of being born with. Some men come off as real dorks when they put on Renaissance shoes. Some on the other hand, look surprisingly nice. There is a rich history behind the fairs that we have come to consider as a norm. These fairs are usually designed to represent a made-up village somewhere in England, hundreds of years ago. It’s a real wonder how imaginary creatures like Centaurs got incorporated into the fairs somehow. The modern renaissance fairs are really no longer about what the past used to be like. They are more about what sort of innovative crap people can come up with every year.

Do not be led by the idea that Renaissance shoes alone can give men that vibe you long for every year. Oh no, it’s not just the shoes, it’s the whole costume. Every little part of his appearance is determined by minute decisions that add up to count for more. For example, has he grown a beard? Is he dressed to play some rich fellow from England or a filthy beggar instead? Is he going for boots, or is he going to wear those steel sounding shoes with pulled up pants instead? All these decisions count. Somewhere along the way, men got smart and realized that women have a thing for Jack Sparrow type of looks. Of course, they overlooked the fact that Jack Sparrow wouldn’t do so well with the ladies if he honestly didn’t shower for days and had a breath that was worse than rotten eggs.

All men putting on Renaissance shoes should know that a real manly look is what truly compliments them. So if you are planning to dress up as Merlin, or Goblin, or some other dorky person, please remember to look in the mirror first, and ask yourself if compromising yourself intellectually, and very much physically, is going to help with the ladies? Let us not jump ahead of ourselves and label everything that looks and sounds unusual as “cool”. No! As a matter of fact, let us constantly remind ourselves that some things that may appear “cool” are actually borderline creepy; for instance, dressing up as a Centaur. If the actual 14th century people were to see such exaggerated and weird representations of their time, they would well, be really pissed.

The movement spread to the entire Europe and was held till the late middle Ages. It was a cultural movement that was constant in the entire Europe and involved the flowing of various cultures, religions, clothing trends, literature and music etc. People started working harder to acquire education in this era also. It was actually an intellectual transformation that resulted in the Modern Ages and helped people come out of the middle Ages. Although Renaissance is an intellectual transformation, it also made many changes in the way people dress up. The entire clothing of people changed from when they were in the middle Ages to when they entered the Modern Era.

The movement of Renaissance started in the early 14th century when people of Europe wanted a change. There are many theories that describe the origin of the Renaissance; every theory has its own different origin but the most authentic sources tell that the Renaissance movement originated after the fall of the Constantinople by the Turks and the migration of the Greeks to other places and other problems that many parts of France were facing at that time.

There are many features of the Renaissance movement the influenced not only the lives of these people but also introduced the renaissance clothing. A program related to Humanities started in the early Modern period. There were five main regions of the study of Humanism which include; poetry, history, moral philosophy, rhetoric and grammar. These intellectual movements had some sort of impact on the clothing of people too. People started practicing subjects like Mathematics and Science and also change the way their art used to be before and even the influence of education was now greater. Women started wearing dresses that were a little higher than their ankles which made it is easier to move around and do household chores. On occasions like parties and balls, the ladies chose elegant gowns and flair dresses. While men on the other hand used to wear pants made from a fine material and adhered to boots, the conventional footwear.

The Renaissance clothing can be found in museums now. Clothing looked really stylish and simple and many cultures even today try designing their clothing in the similar fashion. The blouses that were worn during Renaissance are also worn even today by working women on dress pants. The clothes that people wore during the period of Renaissance were easy to handle and so people even today try designing theirs in the same way. Clothing was simple and breezy, since people today have started wearing clothes like that during the summer season in areas where hot climate prevails. Accessories like swords, shields, helmets, boots, and gowns for both men and women can be found even today in fancy dress stores.

In most institutions all over the world, drama is an important subject. Through drama these students are not only made to enact the plays written by Shakespeare and other dramatists, but lessons of history and their culture is also taught. The students create a historical world of a respective era and renaissance clothing plays a vital role in representing this era properly.

The term medieval is used to represent the middle age period where things were under developed and what most people will refer to as old fashion or traditional. A costume on the other hand will be the type of clothing we wear in order to imitate a certain character in life. A Costume has some importance when it comes to certain kinds of parties and festivities like the one we mentioned above, Halloween. During such festivities, people tend to dress up in different ways so as to fully imitate the character that they want to dress up as. It is also during such event that the use of medieval items will largely be considered to be appropriate thus buying them either then or in advance if fully encouraged.

When shopping for a medieval costume, you will agree with me that the best place to find them will be online. Online shopping sites offer some of the most unique costume from the medieval era that we have ever seen. There prices tend to be a little bit cheap as compared to what you will get from local stores. When shopping online, you will need first of all to find the best selling site of medieval items. By narrowing down your search to this alone, you reduce the search results to only suit what you are in need of. Choosing a site should be done by considering the most used sites rather than those that only have a few shoppers. Some of the best sites to do your costume shopping from will be highly recommended by friends, relatives and other online shopper, so be on the look out for this.

Once you have located the best site to do your medieval shopping from, next you will need to find the best seller. There will be hundreds of sellers who are offering you unbeatable prices for the medieval costume you are looking for. Read through the seller’s reviews in order to find out if he is genuine or not. Reviews will mostly be about him as written by previous buyers based on how they conducted business. The more positive reviews the medieval seller has the more you should buy from him. Apart from the seller, read more about the costume specifications as given by the seller. The specifications let you know the condition of the costume and if you like what you read, then buy it.

Online buying for medieval costume will only mean that the transfer of money will also be online. Online transfer of money should be done with care. After identifying the costume you want and talking everything through with the seller, you should pay him/her the agreed amount of money without disclosing your bank details. Online theft can easily be done from anywhere if the person has your important bank details. Medieval items are beautiful to own. Therefore while shopping for your costume; why not get a few other medieval items as well.

Your escape from the real world where you can let your imagination run wild and fantasize you are living in a different era in fascinating places. Especially us ladies, and of course the men just need to play along. Imagine you entertain your friends at your house and have a medieval theme party. Can you think of any other party that can be as exciting and as enlivening? You and your partner being the Kings and Queens, living in the most influential times in history, the Middle Ages, dressed up in gold and purple silk costumes, wearing crowns and dancing amongst charming royalties from medieval times in the hall of your very own castle.

In the medieval times your dress showed your status. So when picking out your costume you can choose from being a royalty to being a peasant. They wore mostly woolen clothing and linen undergarments. The wealthy tended to keep up with the latest fashion trends and dress more elaborately than the middle and lower class. Headwear was also a necessity for both men and women from all statuses.

Before choosing your costume you need to decide first from which ‘status’ of the middle ages you will be dressing up as. As the hosts you most probably will want to dress up as Kings and Queens. Kings and Queens wore crowns and brightly colored silks. You might want to choose for your guests to dress up as Royalty or you might want to leave it up to them from which social class they choose to dress up as.

There are so many ‘Costume’ shops out there that offer medieval costumes with exciting ranges to choose from. Just browse on your web server and see how many different options there are out there on the web and most of these online shops deliver worldwide. You might also have a Party or Costume Hire shop in your home town that would offer medieval costumes.

For women you can find a large variety of medieval costumes. Brightly colored dresses and gowns in bright colored silk, satin or linen and fit for a Peasant to a Queen. Chemises, worn under the woman’s gown as underwear and also to protect the expensive fabrics of the dresses. Bodices and corsets, elegant boots and shoes which is a must to complete your outfit and of course the mysterious cloak or cape.

Medieval costumes for men consist of a large range of tunics, bright shirts, cotton pants, cloaks for that finishing touch or helms and caps plus the most important item for your dress, boots or roman sandals.

These reforms were not only related to politics, economics, literature or art, but also to clothing. People’s perspective towards clothing changed and they became quite eccentric in their attitude towards their own appearances. Medieval clothing transformed the whole concept of clothing. The loose fitted dresses were replaced by tight fitted ones and there was no room for dull colors any more.

This change basically began when the soldiers came back from crusades and other countries. They used to bring different pieces of clothing with them. The royal families and the aristocrats were amused by these materials so they began to export it for their own clothing also. At first it was a difficult and time consuming process because the tailors had to be called from other countries to stitch these unique kinds of clothes. However, soon the medieval seamstresses learned the trendy flairs and cuts. So it wouldn’t be wrong to say that because of the crusades, medieval clothing became more classy and chic.

The aristocrats are usually the trend setters for mostly everything. The medieval clothing gained more popularity because of the unique style introduced by these aristocrats. Their women’s clothing was generally of silk, satin and velvet. The bodice and sleeves were tight fitted while the skirts were frilly and gave a pixie like appearance. The gloves and skirts were made of satin or silk while the sleeves and bodice were heavily embroidered. Sometimes, the gloves were also made of very fine net. The men transformed their clothing by introducing leather or fine wool or sheep skin jackets. The men’s shirts were also made of the finest silk. The women’s undergarments were made of satin while men’s were made of linen or any fine piece of cloth.

As the middle class was emerging at that time, they could also afford the luxury of these elegant medieval clothing. The women could wear the velvet and silk gowns. They were not as loaded with jewels as the aristocratic medieval women but still had the same passion for dressing. King Edward III also passed certain laws according to which the aristocrats and the middle class people should tone down their extravagant endeavors a bit so that the lower class would not get offended as there was a constant tussle between the middle and lower class. However despite these laws, the upper two classes couldn’t bring the balance, required in a society.

Therefore, the medieval lower class, as always, had to see and be the tolerant ones who bore all hardships relentlessly. This underprivileged class couldn’t leave their long dull dresses behind because they could only afford such extravagant clothing. Their clothing had to be durable so the sturdy wool dresses further hardened up the peasants; appearance wise and emotionally as well. The priests and monks were also included in the same class. They only made two or three dresses per year and saved the best of them for special occasions.

In short, medieval clothing set up a foundation for the upcoming generations and made it clear that elegance is nothing but, an attitude which is best depicted through your attire!
